University of Wales College of Medicine has now merged with Cardiff University, Cardiff, Wales. Department of Dermatology of University of Wales College of Medicine now functions by the name of Welsh Institute of Dermatology. Furthermore, Diploma in Dermatological Sciences earlier abbreviated as DDSc has now changed to Master of Science in Clinical Dermatology now abbreviated as MSc(Clinical Dermatology). One of the most popular diploma across the world known as MRCP had always been available in the field of Medicine & Pediatrics Only. MRCP in Dermatology had never been available. Therefore dermatologists striving for overseas education in United Kingdom had ever had two alternatives i.e. either to go for DDSc as mentioned above or for Diploma of Dermatology (abbreviated as DD) awarded at St. John School of Skin Diseases, London, Uk. Both DDSc & DD is still available. The structure of courses and awarding schools are still the same. However, the abbreviations used for the both now is MSc(Clinical Dermatology).
One of the most popular diploma in the field of Aesthetic Medicine ( The word Aesthetic is analogous to Cosmetic ) across the world. The awarding body is American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine* located at USA. The trainers empanelled by American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine are Cosmetic Dermatologists of USA. This is a hands on training course. To accomplish this course the trainee has to undergo hands on training at two levels i.e Level 1 & Level 2 at two different centers located at two different countries in the world. There are fixed centers across the world. To achieve this Diploma I completed Level 1 training at Dubai ( UAE) and Level 2 training at Kuala Lumpur ( Malaysia ). Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine is awarded after successful completion of training courses at the said two levels.
